  • Caumsett State Park Overnight Field Trip

    Fifth grade teachers prepared students for their visit to Caumsett State Park by learning about the shift of continents and disucssing weathering and erosion. While at the seashore, students learned how Long Island has been impacted by the forces of nature and learned how to protect the environment. The overnight field was held on May 16 - May 18, 2012.

  • RISE Reader's Theater

    On EXPO NIght which was held on Tuesday, May 15th, students in the RISE program participated in the Reader's Theater production. The focus was on reading the text with expressive voices and gestures, and making comprehending the text meaningful and fun for the students.

  • Grand Prize Poster Winner

    Fourth grade student, Geraldine P., from Mr. Moshoyannis' class won the CAPS Annual Bully Poster and Poem Contest this year. Her poster will hold the April position in the calendar. Congratulations Geraldine!

  • Ronald McDonald House Fundraiser

    Our Site-Based Team is collecting aluminum pop tabs from cans to help children who are sick and their families. Money raised from this fundraiser will go to the Ronald McDonald House. Please donate!

  • Help Save the Polar Bears

    To celebrate Earth Day on April 22nd, students at Lee Avenue brought in their spare change to help save the polar bears. Money raised during the fundraiser was donated to the Defenders of Wildlife.

  • Bedtime Story Night

    To celebrate National Library Week, Lee Avenue held its Second Annual Bedtime Story Night on Tuesday, April 3, 2012. Kindergarten, first and second grade students listened as teachers volunteered to be guest readers. Teachers shared creative, humorous and educational poems.

  • Pi Day (3.14)

    On March 14th, students at Lee Avenue celebrated Pi Day (3.14). Our Student Council sold slices of pie to students for a dollar. The money raised was donated to Autism Speaks.

  • Second Annual Math Carnival Night

    Our Second Annual Math Carnival Night was held on Friday, March 9, 2012, from 7:00pm to 8:30pm in the gymnasium and cafeteria. Students in grades 2-5 had a wonderful evening practicing their math facts.

  • Second Annual Wellness Fair

    On Saturday, March 3, 2012, the Hicksville Public School District held its 2nd Annual Wellness Fair. During the Wellness Fair, our Student Council recycled water bottles. The money raised from recycling the water bottles went to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital.

    NEA's national reading celebration takes place each year on March 2nd, the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Every year on NEA's Read Across America Day, the imagination of children across the country are ignited when they open up a good book.
